The garden level

Two treatment rooms, a steam room and the carbonic baths

The spa occupies the middle of the garden level, between the stair and the gaming room. Two treatment rooms, a steam room, and four carbonic bath cabinets, a type this town has been fitting since the 1880s.

It is for house guests only. The town has asked twice about opening it more widely and the answer has been no both times, because twenty-nine rooms and four cabinets is already a tight fit in February.

The water

What is in it, and what the house does not claim

The spring water in this town is hot, mineral, and has had claims made for it for six hundred years. The house takes no position on any of them. It will tell you that the carafe in your room is filled from the spring tap at reception if you ask, and that the tap runs from seven until ten at night.

The carbonic baths are warm and fizzy and most guests find them pleasant. They are not a medical treatment, and nobody here will describe them as one. If you are on a prescribed course, bring the prescription and the therapists will follow it.
