Hiring it
Twelve rounds, or a hundred and sixty standing
One booking a day, and breakfast moves to the reading room when there is one.
The ballroom runs the full width of the first floor with the anteroom at the garden end. Twelve round tables of ten, or a hundred and sixty standing once the anteroom is counted.
It takes about forty bookings a year: weddings, two town concerts, the chamber series in November, and a steady run of company dinners that come for the ceiling.

Five conditions
Said on the telephone anyway
- One booking a day. The kitchen that feeds the ballroom feeds the house.
- Nothing is fixed to the ceiling or the chandelier. The 1931 incident is still in the house book.
- Music stops at midnight. There are rooms directly above on two floors.
- The gaming room is not available for private hire and is not part of any booking.
- The piano is a 1961 Petrof, it is tuned twice a year, and it does not leave the room.
