Nothing is stored before you answer the bar. The two entries that are stored are listed here by name.
The two keys
| Key | What it holds | How long |
|---|---|---|
04_karlovy_vary_age_ok | The answer to the age question, so the question is put once per device. | Until browsing data is cleared |
04_karlovy_vary_consent | Your accept or decline, so the bar stops coming back. | Until browsing data is cleared |
Strictly speaking, both are local storage entries and not cookies. They remain in your browser, no other site can read them, and neither contains an identifier.
Consent Mode v2
Four Google signals are set to denied in the head of every page, before any other script is reached:
ad_storagead_user_dataad_personalizationanalytics_storage
Refusal is therefore the state the page begins in. Accepting flips all four to granted; declining leaves them untouched.
What accepting would allow
There is no tag on the site today. Were one added, Google Analytics 4 would write _ga and _ga_<id>, lasting two years and recognising a returning reader, and a Google Ads tag would write _gcl_au, lasting ninety days and attributing a visit to an advertisement. Decline and none of them comes into existence.
Changing the answer
Cookie settings in the footer of any page reopens the bar; the new answer replaces the old at once.
Blocking it in your browser instead
Chrome and Edge under Privacy and security, Firefox under Privacy & Security, Safari under Settings then Privacy. Block storage entirely and the age question returns on every visit, because the answer has nowhere to live.
What this site does not use
- No social network pixels, and no share buttons that load one in the background.
- No fingerprinting of device or browser.
- No advertising network other than the Google tag above, and that only with consent.
- No session recording and no heatmaps.
- No fonts or scripts fetched from another host at run time; the typefaces are served from this domain.
